File Sharing
The file sharing advanced options:
- Server port: You can choose which port you want Filetopia to open for all P2P activity: file sharing, room hosting, etc. One single port is enough for the program to work. If the port is not reachable it will limit some of your P2P-related functions. If the port is busy at the time of the program start, it will attempt to get the next free port from the number onwards. Also, it will try to open a secure, temporary redirection on your router using uPNP protocol so you don't have to bother configuring it to function properly in Filetopia. In some cases, manual configuration of your router or your firewall may be needed.
- Max Simultaneous Downloads: This is the maximum number of incoming transfers that are allowed to happen at the same time. If you set 0, it means there is no limit. All transfers attempted beyond this limit will become locally queued automatically.
- Max Upload Speed: This is the maximum bandwidth that you want to use to share in Filetopia. If left at 0, it means that you want to share all your bandwidth, for modern lines that have over 100Mb of bandwidth it is highly recommended to leave this option to 0.
- Max Upload Slots: This setting determines how many simultaneous users you allow on your file server. When this capacity is reached, users attempting a connection to your server will get their transfers Remotely queued. Setting it at 0 means no slot limits.
- Create subfolders for users: If setting this option, every downloaded file will be stored under a folder with the user's name, inside your Downloads folder. Please be aware that your downloads folder is shared by default; if you select this option, it will have an impact on the privacy of others. Keep this in mind when selecting this option.
- Auto-resume Downloads on start: All downloads that error out or did not finish the last time you used the program will be automatically resumed if you select this option. If the remote user is still online and sharing the file or folder, it will continue automatically.
- Send completed Uploads to History: When downloading for long periods or many small files, they tend to clutter the Transfers window main tab. Sending them automatically to history if they arrive properly is a way to keep that space clean.
