There are several kinds of links that you may use inside filetopia.  Inside chats, messages, wall posts, even profiles.


  • Links to other rooms:  Once clicked they will transport the user to that particular room (unless not allowed by room's admins).  They have the following format:

       

       chat:room name.          (note the period at the end)

You may also get a link to a room from inside the room browser, just select the room, right click and choose: Copy Room Link,  this way it will create a link in the clipboard that is more graphic than the link you type directly.


  • Links to walls:   This will open a particular wall.  The format is


       msgs:wall name. 

  • Links to a particular wall posts:   This will open the wall and focus on that particular post.  The format is:


       msgs:wall name:post number.   

To know the post number of a post, you may hover over the post's "comment" button and it will display that number in the tooltip that appears.


  • Links to send a message:   They will make it easy to send a message to a particular user.  The format is:


       msg:user name.

or        msg:user name, message topic.   

In the latter case, it will create a message with a predefined text.


  • Links to files or folders:  They will allow the user clicking them to download that particular file or folder.

These links are encrypted and cannot be typed directly (as they contain ip information of the user posting the file).

The way to obtain them is by opening a list that you made and right click over a file or folder and select: "Copy Link" 


  • Links to the help file:  They will open a particular help file for any user that clicks them,  they are a practical way to help new users.  They have the following format:

       ftopia:help:help topic.


     The help topic is usually made by the contraction of the help topic text into one word, for example for "Line Editor" topic it would be: LineEditor.

     Another simpler way to get help links is by opening the help file, selecting a topic in the contents tree and right click: "Copy Link to Clipboard"


  • Links to options:  They will open the preferences window in a particular page.   These are usually only needed in this help file or by advanced users.
