Home sidebar
The Home sidebar lets you manage all open windows in the program.
If you are using the program frequently, you will find yourself soon joining a few rooms, having several lists open, maybe a couple of search results windows, some walls, a few ongoing conversations (messages), etc.
The open windows will soon be too many to manage with just the tabs, especially if you want to track the activity in those windows all at once. The windows manager will allow you to control a large number of windows, sort by window type, or grouped in any way you want, and even see the amount of memory used by all open windows.
Activity tracking
This is accomplished using a set of color codes that will let you know what kind of things are going on inside the content windows. The colors used in order of priority are:
- blue = someone talked to you in a chat or sent you an alert
- red = someone typed in a chat or message
- green = someone entered or left a chat
- violet = indicates that a list finished loading on the background or search results arrived.
As soon as you click on a room with activity, the activity marker on that room will be removed..
The activity tracking color codes are used in the tabs, the Home sidebar and the Home button.
While the home button will show all activity , its color will only reflect the highest priority activity
Home button
The home button works in concert with the Home sidebar; it lets you get to the sidebar with just one click or hide it from view so you can use all available space for your content. When the sidebar is hidden, the home button will take on the role of showing you if there is activity in your open rooms, displaying the number of rooms with activity, what type of activity, etc.
Some examples of color code activity tracking:
This button is showing there is activity in one room, someone entered it.
in this case, we see there is activity in 2 rooms and in at least one of them, someone talked.
With this example, we have activity in 3 rooms and in one of them at least they have addressed us.
In this example, one of the 2 rooms has activity, a list finished loading and is ready to use, or new search results arrived.
